For those who are school aged and unable to attend during these hours, we highly recommend considering our holiday-intensive programs available to waitlisted clients during school holidays. This option can significantly reduce waiting times, particularly for clients with limited before and after-school availability for therapy sessions. Learn more about our effective intensive treatment model by reading here.

  • Clients on our waitlist will be offered an assessment & treatment options (such as sessions, holiday groups, intensives etc.) as these become available. You are always welcome to reach out to us whilst waiting for a service with any questions you might have. We recommend that you consider our intensive program as a treatment option and/or until a regular term spot becomes available. to minimise the delay in starting your therapy. Read more about our intensive treatment option here.

  • Our assessments are tailored to specific referral needs. Before your assessment, caregivers and, if applicable, educators, will receive paperwork to help us understand your child and their needs. Using this information, we plan the assessment session, combining standardized and non-standardized testing with observations. We prioritize creating a comfortable and engaging environment, allowing your child to familiarize themselves with our motivating and fun sensory gyms, ensuring they feel at ease and motivated to participate in the process. It's common for children to leave our assessments eagerly asking when they can return!

  • Each booked session includes both direct treatment and non-face-to-face services, encompassing session planning, setup, cleaning, administration (including notes, invoicing, emails, and phone calls), and pack-away.

At Sensational Kids OT, we understand that children learn best through play. Our unique approach involves purposefully using play to engage children and address their challenges. We carefully strike a balance between challenge and comfort to foster growth. While our sessions may seem play-based, we're diligently fine-tuning your child's skills and working towards your goals. Our therapy draws on various frameworks, including sensory integration, DIR Floortime, Shanker’s Self Regulation, Therapeutic Listening, M.O.R.E., SOS Feeding, Astronaut Program, Therapressure brushing, Therasuit, Forbrain, Social Thinking, and Grow your Mind. Our goal is to create a comfortable environment that encourages children to embrace new learning opportunities.

  • We understand that the cost of an assessment can initially feel overwhelming. However, we want to clarify that our charges reflect only a fraction of the total time and effort invested in providing you with the best service. While we typically charge for 3 hours of our time to complete the assessment, the overall process usually requires much more time, often closer to 5-6 hours. This includes the legal costs of the forms and questionnaires we use, the administrative work involved in issuing and analysing these forms, the face-to-face time spent during the assessment, and the time spent writing detailed reports. Writing these comprehensive reports alone typically takes over 2.5 hours due to the depth of information we collect and share. We hope this helps clarify the value of the service we provide and why the initial investment is necessary.

  • We know that some people may question the need for a report or wonder if it’s truly necessary. We assure you that it is. The report is crucial in helping everyone involved — from you as parents to caregivers such as teachers, preschool staff, and therapists — to start with a clear, shared understanding of where your child is functioning. It not only ensures that we’re all on the same page but also helps you understand our approach to therapy and the recommendations we make for your child’s course of action. This collaborative foundation is essential for successful progress.
